About the Event

NOT TO BE MISSED!! THE SINCLAIRS will be performing in front of an audience for the very first time at The Brewery Tap, Brentford, to celebrate the launch of their new album “The Long Slow Death of a Cigarette”.

This is a deeply collaborative record made by two old friends, Rat Scabies (The Damned etc) & Billy Shinbone (Flipron, Neville Staple), swapping files & talking for hours on the phone every night, then calling on other old friends & making new friends as the record evolved. They will be joined on stage by ultra special guests Elizabeth Westwood & Kevin Eldon.

In 2019, what started out as a small side-project playing surf-rock instrumentals quickly morphed into a world of psychedelic, gurgly electronic soundtracks for their first and critically acclaimed 2020 debut album "Sparkle".

“The Long Slow Death Of A Cigarette” finds them breaking out even further, adding guest vocalists to a mix of skittery garage rock, arctic ambience, fuzzy orchestral pop, the odd dusty torch song plus an undulating latin funeral coda. If the first album “made easy listening more difficult" then this new album is "technicolor noir”.

Billy Shinbone: "We wanted each track to be like a deep, smokey draw that burns off the one that comes before it. Sometimes smouldering, sometimes incandescent, & what you're left with at the end is a funeral."

Vocalists on the album:

Black Lips sax player, vocalist & Gucci muse Zumi Rosow.

Kid Congo Powers - yes he of The Cramps, The Gun Club & The Bad Seeds.

Yoshikio Ronnie" Fujiyama & Akiko Omo of Japanese garage punk treasures The 5,6,7,8’s.

Kevin Eldon is a well known actor and comedian who is as diverse as they come, let’s face it he graced our screens in productions as wildly varied as Jam, Game Of Thrones, Danger Mouse and Hot Fuzz.

Last and by no means least, Roger Chapman, the legendary & unique voice of the iconic 60’s band Family.

The album has just been released by Cleopatra Records on limited edition silver vinyl & CD plus the usual digital platforms on 28th July 2023.
